Witchcraft 101

Like!

Are you new to witchcraft, and wondering where to start?  Or have you already gotten into it, but realized you may have missed some things along the way?

The Witchcraft 101 series is written for people who are just starting this journey.  You may have seen beginner articles before, but nothing like this.  We tell it like it is, both the good and the bad, so that you know what you’re getting into and how to avoid mistakes.  It’s basically witchcraft theory and advice for beginners from varying backgrounds, religious and nonreligious.  There are even warnings about some of the dangers inherent to the craft.

Start With Cleansing and Protection: For Witchcraft Beginners

From Theory to Practice

Daily observance is crucial for witches.  If you didn’t click the link before, here it is again: How to Do Daily Observances.

It is written for Orisha adherents, but should be easily applied to almost any pantheon.

Once you’ve dipped your toe in the water, so to speak, with cleansing and protection, there are important skills you will need to have to continue.  Read my article on Crafting Skills Every Witch Should Have.

I can’t tell you when you are ready to do workings beyond cleansing and protection, but generally most people get there after a full year of being observant.  There’s something about completing at least one cycle that activates a person’s abilities initially, and then one gets “boosted” along the way depending on their alignment with their deities/archetypes.  When you get there, you may want to have these tips on How to Make Your Spellwork Work.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments or forums.  You can also join us on Facebook.

Blessings and Ase!
