Crystals Used In Aggressive Magick

amethystdruzy Most manuals on crystal therapy and magick avoid the mention of their use in hexing, cursing, and other aggressive workings.  I understand that they do this to keep things positive or because they fear misuse of crystals.  However, this approach of avoidance and omission is more dangerous than honesty because it leads to possible misuse of crystals due to ignorance.  Inexperienced witches without the guidance of knowing elders may also be unaware of when they are vulnerable.

There is a reason you are instructed to clean your crystals when you receive them, and it’s not just hygiene.  Crystals that have been used for different purposes may require different kinds of cleansing.  Also, and traditions vary in this, generally anything that has housed a spirit or energy who has or was given a persona must be buried, crushed and mixed with the soil outside, thrown into the sea, or otherwise permanently dispatched once its time has come.  They cannot be passed to another without also passing the spirit they embody, much like a manmade fetish.

Some crystals are also toxic. Some are radioactive, and some are soluble in water or acid. Any and everything has been made into a wand or a egg shape, but this doesn’t mean they are safe for use in massage, elixirs, or anything other than their mystical purpose. Click here for a crystal toxicity list.

To fully understand how any crystal can be used in aggressive magic or cursing, one has to think like a villain, not a decent person.

Crystals were formed long, long before humanity was a twinkle in the Orun’s eye. They were made at a time wherein, at least in our corner of the Milky Way, the default state of most things was what we would describe as biologically non living, but as we know, the Universe and all within it is animate in its way. Stars especially have something that could be described as a metabolism. One could view crystals from the ground something like the various molecules of minerals in our bodies. They do what they do, and what we like or don’t like or find convenient or inconvenient is not a factor.

Placing them in someone’s proximity has whatever effect it has. Adding our intent to them apparently helps them to do their function in a way that is helpful if our intent is helpful. Some people don’t want your help though.

Where many things can be wonderful and healing for a benevolent individual, some nudges or pressure to improve one’s self can be hell for a person who is malevolent and wants to stay that way. If someone doesn’t want to improve themselves, doesn’t want to face what they are doing wrong, and wants to distance themselves from the consequences of their wrongdoings, a blessing for you is a curse for them.

Now to the crystals and their possible uses in aggressive magick.  This is a work in progress, and by no means a complete listing.

Agate

AgateInscribing a curse in carnelian agate a certain way sets it in stone.  It is most often used this way to curse someone who robs a grave or otherwise invades a space a witch does not wish disturbed.  It can also be used to create a plague of rats in a certain area.  This is sometimes done under the cover of protecting a place from serpents.

Amethyst

AmethystCan be used to induce oversensitivity and self infliction of traumas.  Basically, it can cause your enemies to self destruct.  It is especially effective on bullies and sadistic people.

Angelite

Sometimes used as a “weapon” by mischievous spirits.  By abiku (“lost” spirits of children) in particular, sometimes used as weapons against themselves so that they may die young again.  These should be kept away from infants, young sickly children, and pregnant women who have lost children in the past.

Astrophyllite

If someone has offended the Ancestors in some way, or killed someone dear to you, this stone can be charged to cause the dead to torment them until they die or at least go nuts. It is well known to help with connection to one’s ancestors, and since we all have shared ones, it’s obvious that if someone is running around being a jerk, they are going to have issues around this stone. If someone you know is working with this stone and having nightmares of people asking for some unknown thing repeatedly, they may need to do some accounting and healing for things their parents or grandparents have done that they don’t consciously know about, but physically benefit from. It could even be their departed trying to confess to them or correct mistakes. By the way, this is not always a positive thing. Some of us have ancestors who need to talk to some of their other descendants about righting certain wrongs because it’s not our call.

  1. Dear Dean Sheloya,

My name is Jasmine. I must say I’ve been studying magic Wicca since I have been 12. my expertise is gemstones and crystals. I’m shocked that there are negative usages of crystals. I have had read many books on the subject of crystals and not once was any document shown there was any negative on how to use them. This knowledge is nice to know and useful to know if someone has cursed you with these stones. I have surrounded myself with a bunch of crystals not once any of these stones asked to be used in a curse only for protection. They just don’t want to do this at all… I knew someone who tried to curse me through a crystal ball… she was very stupid since quartz amplifies energy and refuses to be used in a negative way of course it rebounded on her the crystal altered my teacher and I and I performed a banishment spell on her and her curse, To think this woman was a wiccan and in her 60’s and should of known better of cursing someone in there 20’s… So like I said its best to keep magic with crystals on the light side of things!

    • Crystals are mineral be-ings. For them, there is no such thing as “negative” in terms of humane-ness. Some have more of a life sustaining vibration than others, but the existence of uranium, cinnabar, and other physically deadly crystals and minerals makes it very clear that stones don’t really have an inherent interest in keeping us alive. The reason your crystals refuse to harm you or others is because you have made them allies, not because they are built this way.

Unfortunately many authors, in trying to protect people by coaxing them away from aggressive magic, have lulled many into a false sense of security. Think about it: why do you need to clean/clear crystals if they have no harmful potential? If quartz really was such a benevolent being, it would not need maintenance to keep it benevolent.

Another thing…everybody who does magic sometimes does aggressive magic. Protection is aggressive. Cleansing is aggressive. Specifically, the original Wiccans and some sects still today use overtly aggressive magic and cursing. Anything you read about witchcraft today needs to be viewed with a critical eye. If it doesn’t make sense, it’s not because “The Lord works in mysterious ways…” It’s because it doesn’t make sense. A witch cannot afford to be a blind follower. We are supposed to be the cunning ones.

      • Yes indeed… very well said I was thinkingbthe very same as I was reading. Blessings to you.

      • I couldn’t agree more; lights cannot exist without shadows, but what these represent are completely up to an individual. “good and evil” are subjective to the being who questions it, and at the end of the day it will very depending on the eyes of the beholder. Humans are most often raised with the views of the one whom teaches; rocks are blank slates in which one carves their intent. Thus they embody what the owner chooses, because they are the teacher. A toddler does not develop “moral” on their own accord, they need guidance.

      • I thought amethyst provided spiritual enlightenment, and protection ? Or can you direct this energy

        • Tara… Spiritual enlightenment… Amethyst is effective against bullies and sadistic people. Put that together. When you spiritually enlightening a bully, they can’t handle it, and it causes them to self-destruct.

How synchromystic I should be discussing the absenteeism of True Correspondence in alleged works on the matter and happen upon this article. We are not commonly provided with correspondence in books on magick today, but rather attributes masquerading as such. Implicit in the term correspondent is the existence of a second dynamic, it means not only THIS but THAT. In the Hermetic Knowledge is contained also the Principle of Polarity which states that every dynamic has a dual aspect differentiated moreso by degree than by inherent nature.

  2. I once had two quartz crystal that were perfect. After my ex girl friend saw them and held them, they started to crack. Another friend freaked out about this and made me wash them and my hands and bury them without touching them. Quartz is not on your list. Both (my ex and my friend) were Wiccan and seemed very knowledgable. My friend never told me what or why I had to do this nor what my ex would have done with them. Any details about this would be appreciated. My friend wanted to fight my ex in the other realm.

  3. I have a question, I have a rough obsidian piece and my intuition is telling me that, obsidian can be used to hex a person. I will like to know if anyone has ever used the stone for that purpose?

  4. Hi Dean Shaloya,

I’m doing a bit of research for a piece of fiction I’m writing. I hope that isn’t offensive, I certainly don’t mean for it to be. This article has been extremely helpful in searching for the perfect stone in a magical piece of jewelry I’m trying to create for the story. Based on these descriptions, I think I’ve just about settled on ruby as the relevant stone, but I’m wondering if I could discuss crystals with you to see if there are any that may be a better fit. I completely understand if you are uninterested or too busy, but I generally live by the belief that it never hurts to ask.
Either way, thank you so much for sharing the information in this article.

    All the best,
    Jack

  5. What about Carnelian and Coral?

  6. Hello! Im unfamiliar with how stones and hexing and such work but ive ran into a bit of a problem if anyone could help enlighten me?.. I work at a hotel and a lady that lived there works at a crystal mine near by. Well she started giving me crystals (not instructing me to clean them or instructing me much at all) so I happily took every one of the crystals she gave me, not clensing them or aware of the power they posses due to my own ignorance but nontheless things started happening… i have become obsessed with the fact that my boyfriend is lying/cheating on me and even hearing and seeing things i know to not be true. Ive also slipped into a deep dark depression that only seems to take effect while im in my home. Im at a loss and this is my only hope to finding out what to do or if this is even the reason for these things happening to me and my relationship. Any help to answering this would be appreciated more than you know! Much thanks!

  7. What about nummite?

  8. Dear Sheloya,

I have been studying gemstones and their uses for a couple of years now. I have never considered using gemstones for negative reasons and didn’t even consider they had negative properties though logically I should have.

I am a writer and I was recently working on a character who will use stones for fighting and aggression. so I went searching for information on this so that I could accurately describe how the crystals would be used. So far, your article is the only one I could find with this information despite various searches.

My question is, do you know how to find more information on the negative/aggressive uses of gemstones? I have tried dark magic, black magic, curses, hexes, etc on gemstones in a search and so far nothing has been informative. Now that I know they have these negative uses as well, I would like to be informed about them. Knowledge is power.

    Thank you in advanced.

    Mary.

    • Hello Mary 🙂

Unfortunately, there isn’t much information out there, but it’s useful to remember that as I’ve said before, crystals are very different from us. Some of them are very “alien” and were formed before the Earth was fully a plant. Some are a bit closer to us though not by much, and were formed by activity in the planet herself. Either way, most were formed before there was what we think of as animate life on Earth. So they exist almost in a different plane.

Whatever they can affect, they affect. It could be in what we think of as a good way or it could be in what we think of as a bad way. We speak to them through light, heat, and vibration, so to get a crystal to do something specific, we have to give it input. What is going to happen depends on what we put into it and what the crystal is capable of.

The method for implanting your intentions into a crystal depends on your tradition. Different groups found different ways of getting the job done, but the most comprehensive and thorough lexicon comes from Hindu texts. This may be the best direction to go in your research if you want information from a long standing tradition. In some of the legends of the deities, certain minerals and stones were used for many things including warfare.

      • Hello there, my thoughts were similar to Mary’s; I am very glad that you commented. I appreciate your insight into the aggressive nature of gems, stones, and crystals-with light, there is dark-to be considered aadept, one must be able to handle both.

  9. I never heard the black onyx could relationship problems. So a spiritual healer/light worker who says she is a witch gave my fiance a necklace with carnelian, black onyx and hematite beads, also with diffusers. Should I be worried about this necklace. I also think she has a love spell on him. Hes been different after a few months of meeting her

    • Hello Takia 🙂

Ever heard of the saying, “Beware of strangers bearing gifts”? First off, anyone who calls themselves a “light worker” is part of a new age movement with cult-ish controlling judgmental elements. Stay away from those people unless you like being constantly criticized and judged for any kind of real witchcraft.

If she gave you anything, clean it and if it’s not particularly useful to it, bury it in a crossroads asking your gatekeeper to neutralize it and any of its residue. Don’t bring any spiritual items directly into your home unless you seriously trust the person who gave it to you or the place you bought or acquired it. Always cleanse things first.

As for your boyfriend, there are things you should be doing to protect your household. I have an article about this here:

  10. Someone is doing black magic on me so I have bought the black onyx and now I’m having scary nightmares I think they have done a curse on it that was there plan or there just scaring me can anyone help please if they have how can I stop it and stop the nightmares my partner has took the stones of me I bought and sho them away but I’m scared they have cursed me can anyone help please? I don’t know if it’s reading it and the fear but a physic said aswell they are doing black magic and since he prayed for me it had stoped and broke the connection expect I’m left with nightmares is it just worry of him saying he’s done this and over thinking it but what if he has now the connection is broke iv got rid of the stone but scared in case it was cured or he cursed it and how I can stop it all? Please help

    • Hello Donna 🙂

Thank you for bringing up this important issue. Coming through a curse or other spiritual attack is traumatic. The trauma and its consequences don’t go away just because the curse is done. You still need to heal.

I recommend that aside of keeping a habit of daily observance, you go through a cleansing period and also bolster your protections. Sometimes taking a few weeks to specifically focus on your deities or archetypes of protection helps to reassure you that it’s going to be okay. They can also work more easily through your subconscious to heal the trauma of enduring an attack.

Once you’ve been through something like that, you can’t un-experience what you’ve experienced. Now that the spiritual part of what you’ve endured is taken care of, you’ve got to heal mentally and perhaps physically as well.

      • Hello , I am somewhat confused. I was raised that any Wicca was bad Wicca . I believe in God to the fullest but I also believe everyone has their own gifts and they can’t all be bad. My dads family were suppose to be Wicca the women in his side. But they had all passed before I knew them. I have always had intuition to a level that is scary. I can tell when people are lying and sense someone. With bad intentions from a mile away. I can also a lot of times sense negative presences. I went to Mexico with my husband over ten years ago. I have always had not the best of luck but I’m a fighter and always has overcame all my obstacles. When I was in Mexico. I woke up out of my sleep with a heavyness on my chest and was in complete paralysis. Couldn’t move , speak or breath. Ever since coming back to the states. It has been one bad thing after another. I brushed it all off at first but bad occurrences can only happen so many times until you start to question. I went n had my palm read by a psychic. The things she told me no one knew. She said I was special and it was heriditary my gifts and there was a lot of negative energy around me. That praying and fasting would help. I have done this. But it still seems as if some things just are not letting up. Depression is starting to set in and I don’t want to be weak because I feel like something is just waiting for me too. Any advice or Insite would be great.

  11. hyraceum stone for love spell How is it used in a love or controlling spell?

    • It is usually used in love spells involving scent or foot tracking. It’s usually ground up into a powder and/or dissolved in a tincture. The last time I used it, the guy became so obsessed with my client that he chased her down the street after she left him. It’s rare, expensive and very effective, so don’t waste such a precious ingredient on a situation that one is not absolutely certain about, or in which someone doesn’t have the self discipline to follow the advice given in the divination on their case. No matter how effective the spell is, someone can ruin it by letting their ego override their discipline.

  12. i am 13 years old and my family is big on the supernaturl. I want to be a witch but my family thinks witchcraft is all bad. my mom wight witch but she does not like me doing witchcraft and no spells ever work. i have done wish spells but it did not work can you pls help me it will maen alot thank you

  13. I’m curious about your thoughts on jet.

I’ve always had a strange pull towards the stone, but haven’t yet gotten myself a piece to work with. I’ve been psychically attacked in the past, but the results weren’t what those who initiated the assault expected…as they did it to “teach me a lesson” and found that my warnings regarding what might happen were true to word.

Jet has a similar feel…a sort of ravenous type of vibe, from just my intuition alone. I was wondering if that intuition rang true for someone who might have worked with it…that it has a sort of enticing allure, a corruptive quality that pulls you in with a ravenous sort of hunger, perhaps.

    Thanks.

  14. I enjoy working with crystals in my practice and I like many others I was under the impression that they were used in beneficial ways. Up until I read your article I had no idea they could be utilized in baneful and aggressive workings. After everything I’ve learned so far about magic work it really makes sense in retrospect. It’s too bad most of what you’ll read on the matter comes from those coming from a place of being overprotective. I try to walk a balanced path, acknowledging and incorporating both the light and the dark in a sensible way.

If possible I was wondering if there was an avenue for the further study of working with crystals in the more comprehensive ways that your article touches on.

    All the best,
    Dennis
