How to Get Around in Witch University
This is a guide to getting around the virtual campus.  The site has various features you can use to learn, teach, share goodies you've found, etc. If you want to do something, but aren't sure how to go about it, feel free to contact us.

Signing Up and Logging In

You can sign up or log in using the normal site system, or through your Wordpress, Facebook, or Google + account. Just fill in the information in the sidebar to the left, and/or click the button.

Reading and Commenting

Like any other blog, you can read and comment on posts. The first place you should comment, if you can't find anything else you'd like to give feedback on, is the Courtyard. This will count towards your Sentient Being badge.

Your Activity Stream

In the top menu bar, there is "Activity", which is a stream, much like your Facebook page, that shows all activity that any member has done on the site. To get to your own, use the link on that page, or click on your avatar in the sidebar, or use the "my" section in the menu at the top of the page. It's right under "My Profile". You can post statuses, photos, and links that will appear on your page. You can view other people's pages by clicking "Members" in the top bar. You can also add friends from the site.

Witch University has various groups, societies, and "cults". When you join them, you can make posts on the group activity streams and forums, as well as contribute to your groups' Liber Umbrarum (Book of Shadows). You can also create a new group for your class or interest. Since we're not overly uptight, you can create a group for your business if it is spirituality/occult/witchcraft related. This way you have where to post sales and announcements without getting lost in the crowd.

You can earn achievement badges for committing various unspeakable acts around the website. These will appear on your personal achievements list as well as the winner lists for each award.

The Link Grove

Under Activity, there is the Link Grove, where you can post all sorts of links, videos, images, etc. We like to have a central place for those outside of our individual profiles because well, everybody here is interested in witchcraft.

The forums work like any old forums. Post new topics, reply to posts, etc. Some forums are group specific though, so try to stay on topic. Posting in the forums also earns you achievement badges.

Teacher Blogs and Groups

If you're an active participant, and feel that you'd like to have a blog on the domain, contact us. You need to know how to use Wordpress well enough, but if you ever need help, we're here. Teachers may find this useful, as they can make private courses, or just have something with their own unique touch. Teachers may also request to have class groups created. These can be as open or as private as you like. You can require payment for your courses if you like. If you're using Paypal, we can work something out.

Liber Umbrarum

As mentioned before, each group has a collaborative Liber Umbrarum, also known as a Book of Shadows. You each have one in your profile as well. You can create posts and documents and associate them with a group you belong to, keep them just your own but available for others to read, or make them completely private. It's up to you.

You can send private messages to other members. Please use this feature wisely. Anyone caught harassing or spamming others will be banned. By the same, anyone submitting false reports will also be banned. We reserve the right to review each case using good old fashioned common sense.

Wobbly Bits and Pieces

Because this is a site with Pagans, you will see a bit of T&A from time to time, and sexual topics will come up. There's a line between tasteful nudity, respectful sexuality, honest spirituality, and straight up porn, and we reserve the right to hold that line.

Photos and Safety

For safety reasons, we ask that nobody post photos of children at all until the former child is over the age of 16. It is unfortunate, but there have been cases of pervy predators stalking kids online. We are a vulnerable alternative community, and where paranoia isn't good, when bad stuff has actually happened, we should be aware. We just want to be sure that if anyone does get cased, the dumbass stalker is going to meet a bearded or busty sword wielding heathen, not an easy target. Make sure that any of your younglings online have had "the talk". We reserve the right to delete any content that we feel puts the user at undue risk.
